They're Engaged: Doug and Aundrea

The day has come!!! I want to shout it out from the roof tops! Since the idea of a wedding announcement in the paper was out of the question, I've been forced to result to my own cheesy mock up of what the Ventura County Star could read:

"I am pleased to announce the engagement of my two dear friends Aundrea Nicole Simili and Douglas William Webb. (Who I helped set up 5 years ago...after my first choice for Aundrea was overruled by Doug himself saying, "F that *explicit!! Set her up with me!")

The future bride is the daughter of Nick and Judi Simili. Aundrea is a 1999 graduate of Westlake High School and is currently a Preschool Teacher for Honey Tree Early Childhood Center in Thousand Oaks, California (where she will no longer be referred to as 'Ms. Simiwi' and be that ridiculously perfect Bree Vandekamp wife).

The future groom is the son of Mike and Laura Webb. Doug is a 2002 graduate of Newbury Park High School and is currently a Los Angeles City Fireman. (Sorry ladies, this future Mr. July is only putting Aundy's fires out!)

The couple plan to marry in August of 2009."

Here's a pic from a day of location hunting (and the only pic from the day that won't cost me my friendship after this post. The pic below is compliments of Amanda Rae):

Alright the post has been approved! Here some pics I took of the beautiful couple:

Personal: "America, We Have Come So Far"

*Disclaimer: I would like this post to be somewhat non-partisan, not focusing on whether or not a Republican or Democrat was elected last night, but rather my commentary on the day we elected the first black president.

Last night, I broke from a 'study group' with Danielle and Heather to celebrate history. We wondered if we'd be able to answer the questions, "Where were you the night the first black president was elected? Do you remember what you were doing?" for years to come.

Much like that vivid memory of 9/11, I'll never forget the exact location, the smell in the air and the sense of unity that followed. These two things are the greatest impacts our generation has seen so far. Regardless of political affiliation or which way you voted yesterday (hopefully you did), I just wanted to take a minute to mention how thankful I am to have been given the chance to vote and how lucky I feel to have experienced, first hand, the day our great great grandchildren will be studying in textbooks, cheers!

Senator McCain your speech was heart felt, moving and eloquent. Thank you for fighting long and hard for this country.
Good luck President Elect Barack Obama, may you, "...put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; help us reclaim the American Dream..."

Obama Supporters: Check out Matthew Jordan Smith's blog to see how he captured the day.
McCain Supporters: Check out People's article on how he's holding up :(
