Personal: "America, We Have Come So Far"
*Disclaimer: I would like this post to be somewhat non-partisan, not focusing on whether or not a Republican or Democrat was elected last night, but rather my commentary on the day we elected the first black president.
Last night, I broke from a 'study group' with Danielle and Heather to celebrate history. We wondered if we'd be able to answer the questions, "Where were you the night the first black president was elected? Do you remember what you were doing?" for years to come.
Much like that vivid memory of 9/11, I'll never forget the exact location, the smell in the air and the sense of unity that followed. These two things are the greatest impacts our generation has seen so far. Regardless of political affiliation or which way you voted yesterday (hopefully you did), I just wanted to take a minute to mention how thankful I am to have been given the chance to vote and how lucky I feel to have experienced, first hand, the day our great great grandchildren will be studying in textbooks, cheers!

Senator McCain your speech was heart felt, moving and eloquent. Thank you for fighting long and hard for this country. Good luck President Elect Barack Obama, may you, "...put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; help us reclaim the American Dream..."
